Obituary
George Hugh Malcolm Potts wss born in Dalton in Furness, Cumbria. His father and grandfather were both called George so to avoid confusion the family knew him as Malcolm. He attended Ulverston Grammar School and then spent 12 years in the Royal Air Force. His postings included Changi (Singapore) and RAF Gan, in the middle of the Indian Ocean. He also took part in the Brunei Revolution and he and many other British Service personnel were awarded the Pinjat Jasa Malaysia medal for their efforts. He was proud that he consistently achieved his Marksman badge and considered his time in the RAF as the best years of his life! He xied on 30 April at Musgrove Park Hospital and leaves his wife, Ruth, four sons, Mark, David, Martin and Richard, a sister Barbara. three granddaughters, four grandsons and a great grandson.
Bye Dad. Goodbyes are hard when the story isn’t complete. R.I.P
Malcolm, you were my best friend and lover for nearly fifty years. (And they said it wouldn’t last!)
You gave me confidence to do things I would never have done without your love and support, and I shall miss you always. We shared so many things, a sense of humour, and a love of music – and I hope you approve of my choice!
When something amusing happens I find myself thinking “I must remember to tell Malcolm that”! And then remember that you are not here! But you are here, at home and everywhere I go, and your legacy is our four sons and so many wonderful grandchildren (especially those who were lost along the way!) And they and your first greatgrandson all live on because of you!
Love always, your Ruth
As my big brother you helped me along the sometimes stoney path of our young years and, although life took us in different directions, the bond remained. You suffered stoically and uncomplainingly and now you are at peace. Happy memories remain.
Barbara
Bye, Fatha
I’ll be thinking of you whenever I’m up in the Lakes, a place we know you always loved. You will never be less than the very best memories we have of you. Rest in peace now. You’ll be sorely missed x
